How the 'Magic Bullet' Covered Up a Monumental Double Cross (Part 1)

Arlen Specter's 'magic bullet' concealed the monumental double cross of E. Howard Hunt and his 'fake assassination' as a pretext to invade Cuba.

Oswald was an agent of the U.S. government acting under the specific orders of E. Howard Hunt. The true facts of the assassination, as far as I know them are so fantastically shocking, if I tried to force them out in the open I’d surely end up in the same graveyard as Oswald, or committed to an insane asylum, buried so deep no one would ever hear of me again.

Coming to light recently was former Secret Service agent Paul Landis’ claim that he picked up a nearly pristine bullet from just behind where Kennedy was sitting when he was killed. During the ensuing chaos, he said he placed it on JFK’s hospital stretcher to “preserve it for the autopsy investigators.”¹

However later it was asserted that the bullet was found on Governor Connolly’s stretcher after apparently falling out of his clothes.² This then made it possible for former Warren Commission lawyer, Arlen Specter (who later became a senator), to concoct his ‘magic bullet theory’. Well, it was originally called the ‘single bullet theory’ but the bullet became ‘magic’ because Specter insisted that it had caused seven wounds in JFK and Governor Connolly combined. It had to have caused all those wounds to ensure that Oswald, dubbed the ‘lone nut’, also remained the ‘lone shooter’.

Oliver Stone exposed the ridiculousness of Specter’s theory in the following clip, where Kevin Costner portrays Jim Garrison in his 1991 film, JFK. The theory was so far-fetched that journalist, Gaeton Fonzi, commented in his memoir, The Last Investigation, that after interviewing Arlen Specter, “my belief in that Government would never be the same.”³

Keep Arlen Specter in mind, for I will return to him in part two of this article.

I find it hard to believe that after Landis’ revelation about finding the ‘magic bullet’ the debate has started again about the possible presence of a second shooter. When will this ever end and common sense prevail? The ‘magic bullet theory’ should have died a sudden death after Jim Garrison subpoenaed the Zapruder film from Life magazine and it clearly showed that Kennedy was hit from the front. See for yourself below.

In 1969, the year of Jim Garrison’s trial of Clay Shaw for conspiring to kill JFK, Lyndon Johnson admitted during an interview with Walter Cronkite at his ranch that “others” may have been involved in President Kennedy’s assassination. Speaking about the Warren Commission members Johnson said:

I don’t think that they, or me, or anyone else is always absolutely sure of every…ah thing that might have motivated Oswald…or uh others…that uh…could have been involved.

This segment was deleted from the original broadcast of the interview at Johnson’s request on the grounds of “national security.”

“Others?” Let’s explore briefly who some of those “others” might be. But first, note that two days after the assassination, on 24 November,  J. Edgar Hoover (head of the FBI) said to White House aide Walter Jenkins:

“The thing I am concerned about, and so is Katzenbach, is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin.”⁴

The following day on 25 November, Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach wrote in a memo to President Johnson’s assistant Bill Moyers:

“The public must be satisfied that Oswald was the assassin; that he had no confederates who are still at large; and that evidence was such that he would have been convicted at trial.”⁵

So if “others” were involved in the assassination that the government did not want anyone to know about, this then sets the scene for Arlen Specter’s ‘magic bullet theory’ to convince the public that the three shots ‘supposedly’ fired from Oswald’s rifle, an inaccurate Italian made Mannlicher-Carcano, caused all the wounds in both Kennedy and Connally.

But there is an immediate glitch to this story, for the rifle found in the Texas School Book Depository that day was not a Mannlicher-Carcano, identified as belonging to Oswald, but a 7.65 Mauser with no link to Oswald at all.

In the short video clip below, Deputy Sheriff Roger Craig testifies that the rifle found on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository (TSBD) was a 7.65 Mauser. He also revealed that three empty shells were found next to the window, lined up an inch apart and all facing the same way (as if someone had deliberately placed them there). Later it was determined that they were fired from a Mannlicher-Carcano.

While Captain Fritz, Deputy S. Boone, and Seymour Weitzman all later changed their stories and said they were mistaken about finding a Mauser, Roger Craig refused to change his story. As a result, he lost his promising career as a Deputy Sheriff and his health. After surviving several attempts on his life, he supposedly took his own life in 1975 at his father’s house.⁶

Did Oswald line up those three Mannlicher-Carcano empty shells beside the window on the sixth floor of the TSBD, as Craig described them, some time before the motorcade passed? Oswald’s instructions that day were to fire three shots into the air from the TSBD window just as JFK’s motorcade passed, and then exit the building to rendevouz with someone for the next stage in the plan. However, at the time the motorcade passed, he was photographed at the entrance to the TSBD.⁷

It was Roger Craig who said he saw Oswald running down the grassy knoll from the direction of the TSBD and get into a light green Rambler station wagon moving slowly west on Elm Street. He identified him in Captain Will Fritz’s office as the man he saw. When Fritz asked Oswald about the car he replied:

“That station wagon belongs to Mrs. Paine. Don’t try to drag her into this.” He then leaned back in his chair. He said in a low voice, “Everybody will know who I am now.”⁸

Roger Craig noted that Oswald made this statement as if his cover had been blown. He knew that something strangely outside the ordinary was in progress, for just two hours before JFK’s motorcade was due to pass Sheriff Bill Decker had told his security teams to stand down. Police Chief Jesse Curry also gave the same order to his officers. The order had come from Mr. Lawson, the Secret Service representative from Washington, D.C.⁹

Why? What did Oswald know that might have exposed a sinister plot to kill JFK if he had gone to trial? Don’t you think it rather strange, therefore, that his killer, Jack Ruby (a.k.a. Jacob Rubenstein), had personally known Oswald since Oswald was a boy through his family’s connections with Carlos Marcello?

The truth of what happened that day will likely seem much stranger than fiction, for despite what you may believe about Lee Harvey Oswald, he was actually part of E. Howard Hunt’s The Big Event. This secret has been zealously guarded for nearly sixty years. It is why classified documents that prove what I am about to reveal, will never be released to the public. It is also why Arlen Specter rigorously promoted the “magic bullet theory” that later became the foundation upon which the Warren Commission was built – even though it completely defies all logic.

According to Senator John Tower, it was E. Howard Hunt’s plan to stage a fake assassination (failing to kill the president, but with a trail leading to Castro’s door) to engender such outrage from the American people that they would support a military invasion of Cuba. If you recall, it was Hunt who planned the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Now, if you are beginning to think that no one in their right mind would dream up such a far-fetched plan, consider the declassified Operation Northwoods plan drafted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in March 1962, which lists a number of staged options to use as a pretext to invade Cuba, which President Kennedy dismissed out of hand. According to Senator Tower, E. Howard Hunt (later connected to Watergate) feared that Cuba could become a danger to the U.S. because of its growing ties with Moscow. He became obsessed with getting rid of Castro and dreamed up fantastic schemes and methods to assassinate him – exploding cigars, poison pills in coffee, poison in his food at his favorite café, and many others, which were all dismal failures. The fake assassination plan then became the most bizarre idea that came out of his seemingly deranged mind, but it was “approved and sanctioned by high ranking members of the cabinet.”¹⁰ I would learn later that this included members of the Senate, including Senator John Tower.

A role Tower played in this plan was to fast-track the approval for Marina Oswald’s entry into the U.S. to facilitate Russian ‘defector’ Lee Harvey Oswald’s return in June, 1962. Kennedy assassination researcher, Mae Brussell wrote of this:

If there is anything he [Tower] wouldn’t want in his back yard it was a defector and his allegedly Communist wife from Minsk.

Yet, two years after joining the YAF [Young Americans for Freedom]¹¹ ¹²team in 1960, Tower was passing all waivers in order for Marina Oswald to get to the United States as soon as possible. Without his permission, this trip might never have taken place. Many wives from the USSR are not that lucky.

March 22, 1962, Senator Tower cooperated. “The sanctions imposed on immigration and nationality are hereby waived in behalf of Mrs. Oswald. The file check on Marina by the FBI, CIA, Dept. of Security Office, Division of biographical intelligence and passport office,” (Volume XXIV, 298).¹³

The story of what unfolded on 22 November 1963 gets so bizarre no one in their right mind would believe it. So bear with me, suspend for the time being everything you believe about the assassination, and learn what Senator John Tower knew of this plot, for in a panicked state he told this story to three men at a meeting in Ruidoso, New Mexico, shortly after the assassination. Dallas Sheriff Bill Decker, who had known Tower for a long time, arranged the meeting with his Los Angeles friends: Detective Sergeant Gary Wean, his police partner Frank Hronek, and their mutual friend, Audie Murphy (war hero and actor). This is what Decker told them before the meeting about Tower when they were discussing the assassination over lunch together in Los Angeles:

“There’s a man in Dallas I’ve known a long time, he knows the entire truth about Oswald’s involvement. He’s scared to death to go to the Dallas PD or FBI. There’s been a double cross somewhere and everybody is scared shitless of everyone else. You would never believe all the accusations and crazy suspicions heaped on law enforcement in Texas by imbeciles in D.C. and the chaos it has created. This man feels that it is duty to tell someone what he knows in case something happens to him…”

Tower wanted to share the information he had, and the supporting documents, with someone trustworthy outside of Texas, hence the meeting at Ruidoso. Tower said that Oswald “fit the bill perfect for Hunt’s operation.” He’d worked successfully for Military Intelligence, beginning when he was a Marine at Japan’s Atsugi Air Base. He explained that the “Russian defection incident was part of Military Intelligence grooming of Oswald for a deep cover of communist affiliation.”

The following extracts of this meeting are taken from Gary Wean’s self-published book, There’s A Fish in the Court House.¹⁴ But first, to make this story more believable, it is important to note Gary Wean’s background, and that his book, which contains vital missing links in the Kennedy assassination, is available on Amazon with some pertinent reviews.

Gary Wean was with the L.A.P.D. from 1946 to 1952, a Detective Sergeant for the Ventura City Police Department, an investigator for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation (the Criminal Intelligence Unit), and in 1966 he became the Chief Investigator for the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office before being forced to retire in 1970. He was endowed with a high moral compass and on at least two occasions that I am aware of, in the course of investigating serious crimes – one of pedophilia and child trafficking, and another of conspiring to foment race riots involving the theft of guns – he was told to resign his job. On one occasion he escaped an attempt on his life because of what he knew.

It was in 1987 that Gary Wean finished writing his book, There’s A Fish in the Court House, about the treasonous judiciary in California and the criminal cabal he had struggled to deal with in Los Angeles, which he identified as the Mishpucka (the Jewish Mafia). Chapter 44 describes the meeting he had with Senator Tower (without naming him). Wean worked in a garage with a “couple of has-been printers and a beat-up printing press in the middle of the night to keep from getting killed...” He printed a hundred copies of his indexed, 773 page book, put a cover on them, and headed off to Washington, D.C. in November that year to hand deliver his book to Senator Joseph Biden, then chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and to each of the other ninety-nine U.S. Senators, along with a ‘Petition from the People for Redress of Grievances’, to request that the U.S. Senate investigate judicial corruption (murder and theft of people’s property) in California and the U.S. Ninth Circuit.

Wean had physical evidence, intelligence reports, tapes, audio and video, and documents, etc., that he and police partner Frank Hronek obtained that would expose the entire corrupt judicial organization that Judges Harry Pregerson and Stanley Mosk had built and operated over the last 50 years, as well as documented evidence about the murder of JFK.

“[Oswald] was an agent of the U.S. government acting under the specific orders of E. Howard Hunt. “In early 1963 Oswald was dropped right into a boiling cauldron in New Orleans. His instructions were to establish himself as a disgruntled ex-Marine and Commie adherent, a zealous left-winger. Joining the Pro-Castro, Fair Play for Cuba organization he got himself arrested to accentuate his activities and profile and to top this off Hunt and General Edwin Walker, a recognized leader of the ultra-conservative right wing, faked a shooting attempt on Walkers life. It was blamed on Oswald to add a dangerous, sinister touch to his character which would be needed later.”

The camera crew from WDSU-TV filmed Oswald handing out pro-Castro leaflets in front of the International Trade Mart where Clay Shaw worked as the General Manager. This was planned by Guy Bannister and ultimately arranged by Dr. Alton Ochsner, who was involved in making the cancer-causing bio-weapon to kill Castro.¹⁵

At first Hunt did not tell Oswald what his exact mission was, except it was one of the highest National Security priority... It was only two months before the Fake Assassination when Hunt gave Oswald the rifle, explaining his part in the scheme. Oswald was to fire three shots from his rifle in the air, then abandon it and the empty cartridges at the scene. He was to quickly leave the building for a rendezvous with agents who would transport him to a secret destination where he’d remain in hiding until after Cuba was invaded by the United States.

On first blush Oswald was extremely leery of the feasibility of Hunt’s plan. But commencing to see and feel the power and confidence of people behind the mission he joined eagerly. His orders were to leave a trail that could be easily followed, yet not so overly obvious as to bring down suspicion. And specifically the most critical part was the moment of firing the rifle. It must be instantly clear to the crowd and security people in the street as to the location and source of the shots. Success of the operation depended entirely upon police quickly finding the rifle and the clues. The hysteria and excited press and TV announcers picking up the scent would trumpet a bloodhound hue and cry following the trail right to Fidel Castro’s doorstep.”

What has happened is incomprehensible. It cannot be that the Mafia or Cuban exiles have done it, there is no motive, they had already been given inside tips that an operation was underway that would return them to Cuba. It would’ve been totally stupid for them to interfere. Anyway, even Oswald wasn’t told the route to take for his rendezvous until the last minute, so how could they possibly know where he was? Only a few of Hunt’s most trusted men knew all his plans down to the last detail. It is impossible to believe any of them is a traitor. Still it is clear, who ever killed the President had to know all the minute details to pull it off the way they did. Something very frightening, horribly sinister had interposed Hunt’s mission. He and his men are petrified, they conceive this as not just murder, they’ve been drawn into treason.

At the end of the meeting Tower gave Gary Wean a sealed envelope full of “irrefutable documents, evidence verifying” everything Tower had told them. It was further secured by “red sealing wax about the size of a quarter with a thumbprint impression, a procedure police used to protect vital evidence from being tainted before it reached the court.” Back in Los Angeles, Wean asked Audie Murphy to keep the documents in his safe. Wean wrote:

Then we watched the plot unfolding as the powerful, politically contrived Warren Commission covered-up the heinous assassination of JFK under orders of the new President, Lyndon B. Johnson. We could easily guess our fate if we interfered.

This story seemed so far fetched to me when I first read it that I did not bother investigating it further. However, I chanced to see The Love Affair in the history channel’s series, The Men Who Killed Kennedy, which told the story of Judyth Vary Baker’s love affair with Lee Oswald (which she wrote about in her book, Me and Lee) while they were both in New Orleans in the summer of 1963 working on the cancer-causing bio-weapon to kill Castro. After all these years she wanted to clear Oswald’s name and tell the world that he did not kill JFK. It caused problems with her family, exposed her to ridicule, and attempts were made on her life.

Judyth’s story resonated with the story John Tower told Gary Wean, so I went back for a second look. And I kept going back to it wondering if it could possibly be true. I sensed Wean’s sincerity in wanting to get the truth out. I bought Wean’s book and searched the internet for anything else he had written. Putting together the disjointed pieces of his writing and adding it to what he had written in his book began to reveal a very disturbing story that went beyond New Orleans and Dallas. Through Jack Ruby, it ends up on the west coast. But that is another story best left for another time.

Returning to Judyth Vary Baker’s story, she also spoke of the fake assassination attempt on JFK to use as a pretext for the U.S. to attack Cuba. Oswald had been very troubled when he discovered that people he did not know had infiltrated E. Howard Hunt’s Big Event to turn it into the real deal. Two days before the assassination, and the last time he spoke with Judyth, Oswald knew that he would probably die, but remained determined to do all he could to prevent the assassination.

The following is what Oswald could have revealed if he had stood trial for murdering the president.

I now learned that upon his return to Dallas, Lee had been invited to be an actual participant in the assassination plans against JFK... [He told Judyth], “I’m going to have to go through with it. Who else is in a position to penetrate this, and stop it?”

Oswald had wondered why they had recruited him because he was not a good shot.

The plot against Kennedy thickened in November... Lee had been recruited into the Baton Rouge meetings into the Dallas plot. He had penetrated the ring. Now, he was meeting with one or more of the plotters on a regular basis. “But I’m meeting too many new people,” he told me. He said he felt he was being treated like a dangle.” He was given tasks to do, as if they trusted him, but he was never certain who was who.

A Secret Service agent sought his help in assessing the possible ambush sites that might be used when the President came to Dallas. Presumably this was to afford protection for Kennedy, but of course, such work would also reveal which sites were best for murder.

One meeting in particular disturbed Lee: he called it the “trophy” meeting. It was held at the posh 3525 Turtle Creek address. Lee had not attended that meeting, but he’d been told about it. “Kennedy won't be killed on Turtle Creek Boulevard,” Lee revealed, “because Mayor Cabell, Senator Tower, and Clint Murchison all have apartments right there, at 3525 Turtle Creek. General Walker happened to live on Turtle Creek, too, Lee said, but further away.

Lee said the motorcade would turn at the 3600 block “because the plotters want to show their power...that they were in charge of their trophy. They would also be taking trophy photos of the assassination.

... Sickening to me and Lee was their plan to circulate a photo of JFK’s head, “dead, with his eyes left open.” ¹⁶

Saturday, November 16, 1963

Lee met with an FBI agent at a location unknown to me, revealing that a right-wing group was planning to assassinate President Kennedy during his visit to Dallas on November 22^nd. Someone in the FBI took the information seriously and sent out a teletype message to field officers that night. William Walter, a clerk in the FBI office in New Orleans, saw this telex the following morning and later affirmed he had seen this document to Jim Garrison when he investigated the JFK assassination in the late 1960s. The FBI claimed it could find no copies of such a document...

Given that Lee knew J. Edgar Hoover was compromised by his relationship with the Mafia, he literally risked his life to try to use the FBI as a means of sending his warnings through the Telex.¹⁷

Wednesday, November 20, 1963

Lee said he was no longer alone, and an abort team had been called in to help him. “Even though they’re going to try to kill him,” he said, “I’ve sent out information that might be able to save him.” ...Informed that he was now ‘part of the group’ that would assemble in Dallas to shoot the President, and secretly a member of an abort team that would try to intervene, Lee said he would be required to obey orders from both sides.

There was no way he could provide an excuse, he said, for not showing up where he was supposed to be. He was in too deep.¹⁸

“Is there any way you could get out of this? Something you haven’t thought of?”

“They’d just get another gun to take my place,” Lee said. “If I stay, that will be one less bullet aimed at Kennedy.”¹⁹

So what went wrong? How was Hunt’s planned ‘fake assassination’ infiltrated? Who was involved in the double cross, and what did this have to do with Arlen Specter’s ‘magic bullet’? I would find the answers to these questions in Gary Wean’s writing.

11. Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), a conservative organization, was launched by William F. Buckley and Douglas Caddy in 1960. Both men had CIA affiliations, and at one time Buckley had served with E. Howard Hunt in Mexico. Of interest, included in the selected advisory board for YAF was Senator Strom Thurmond, Senator John Tower, Mr. Ronald Reagan, and Robert Morris. In 1961, CUSA (Conservatism USA) was formed in Munich, Germany and, instead of its members being students, they were U.S. soldiers, “soon to be mustered out” to later appear in Dallas, Texas, by November 1963, hosted by Robert Morris. It is clear from the following correspondence between Larry Schmidt in Dallas, to Bernie Weissman in Munich, Germany, in preparation for their arrival (published in the Warren Commission Hearings, Vol. XVIII), that a ‘big event’ was being planned in Dallas involving many others not necessarily employed by the CIA.

June 13, 1963, Larry Schmidt to B. Weissman in Munich, Germany:

"Warren Carroll, our only other recruit to CUSA, is already a PhD and two MS's. Warren is a scriptwriter for Lifeline, the H.L. Hunt television and radio series. Hunt is the millionaire oilman."
"Warren is 32, former CIA man. Don't worry, he has been checked out."
"Hunt checked him out."
(This appears to be a military action, DIA. They have to check out the CIA man, using Hunt's security).

After Jack Ruby was arrested for killing Oswald inside the Dallas jail, there were copies of Warren Carroll's Lifeline on the seat of his car. The section was on "Heroism," on how to become a "hero." This is interesting because one of the first reasons Ruby gave for killing Oswald was, "I wanted to show them a Jew had guts."
"We want to get Norman into the Republic National Bank ... where we are building our credit like crazy for the day we need ready cash."
(The Dallas Republic National Bank was identified by the Washington Post, February 26, 1967, as a conduit of CIA funds since 1958.)
(Connie Trammel, who worked at the Republic National Bank, accompanied Jack Ruby to the office of Lamar Hunt, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1963, two days before Kennedy was assassinated.)

…the federal government has targeted its intelligence activities against one group of Americans. …And the first group on page 167 on Army surveillance lists the John Birch Society as a number 1 and the Young Americans for Freedom as the number 2 target. Therefore, the groups of U.S. American citizens considered to be the biggest enemy of the United States, by the federal government, at this time, is the conservative patriot, and those who assert the Constitution and individual rights.
