Wow. This is like an onion, the more you peel, the more you cry. This is an absolute travesty and so many innocent people may have (probably did) die just because they put two and two together. In Australia at the time, I was deeply affected by the Vietnam War and its impact on our country's young men. Then in 1989 on my first trip to the States, I was shocked by the number of Vietnam vets begging for money and food on the streets of San Francisco. What is interesting is that I grew up in southern California, so I know a lot of the places he wrote about. Plus, I was born in 1953, so most of that happened while I was growing up.
I know how you feel. I first came across Gary Wean about ten years ago. Reading what he experienced and discovered was unbelievable at first and caused me many sleepless nights. Somehow I came out the other side of this by putting what he wrote together in a logical and coherent way, and it was easier on my heart that I could share it so people could understand what has been happening behind the chaos. I think in the process I became more courageous and it didn't scare me so much.

I only have a few people who will listen to me when i share hard stuff. It's a lonely place to be. Most people just want to go on with life and pretend that things really aren't that bad. As a Christian, I am struggling with how to trust God in all this, and how to maintain my joy.
It is a lonely place to be sharing this "hard stuff" as I have also experienced. But do not give up. Many people do not want to know because they are avoiding facing their own repressed painful experiences, and are likely to distract themselves with other stuff instead. People's readiness to take on board what you have to say often depends on their ability to look within themselves and integrate their negative life experiences.
If you can understand this and respect where people are at in their growth and development, your sense of loneliness will dissipate. Instead of struggling with despair and your trust in God, empower yourself and others by praying for world peace so the light of truth can enter people's hearts. Eventually people will discover who is trying to 'play god' by pulling strings behind the scenes to create chaos and despair in this world. Once they stop reacting to them in fear, their enlightenment will eventually overcome the darkness.
The most important thing you can do at this stage is to let go of fear. Moments of joy will then creep back into your life.
